New design with a push in and out spring based micro SD slot
A micro SD adaptor for the PSP Go that uses the original slot. No shell trimming required!
Cards up to 128GB have been tested. NOTE: Bigger cards will make the PSP Go wake from sleep slower.

This review's based on the v1 install, though the new version is not too different in process. Removing the shielding is the toughest part without a hot air station, but an iron with a knife tip does the job just as well ( I really don't recommend cutting it with pliers). Once that part is done, removing the pins and setting in the new board was a breeze.
The reader works as you'd expect it to, and i have no qualms with it. Biggest gripe is how easy it is for the microsd to fall into the GO, and without a spring mechanism like in the new one it can be hard to grab without appropiate flat-end, thin tweezers.
Still, anything to be rid of the annoying propietary port and a much more elegant solution than the janky sd adapters on the market!
Was able to get the old port of easily with a hot air station and nearly stuffed out the install as I wasn't using an appropriate soldering tip, but works well and reads the card perfectly.
Only minor issue is that you have to be SUPER careful putting the card in or it will go over the top of the port and end up inside the shell instead :/
I ended up taping a small tab onto the end of the SD card to assist in lining up and guiding in the card. Also makes it easier to remove, though I will now access it through the USB port to avoid removing it again.
You could design and make a 3d print shroud if you are so inclined, but it would border on overengineering for a simple issue.
100% recommended mod if you have the tools and skills to install this.
128GB card is more than enough to enjoy most of the PSP library. I will trial a 64GB card soon and see if that improves the start up time for standby as it is a noticeable delay with the 128GB card.
I bought this product even tho I don't intend to install it because I want to put my money into projects that are valuable. I always thought the previous solution with a ribbon cable and an SD Card adapter was janky and lazy. Your approach is much smarter and along the lines of what I've tried to do myself. However, you need to find a way of getting the spring loaded mechanism to work. That's key because it makes it convenient to switch out SD cards. It's either that or finding a way to support 128GB + cards. Thanks for your efforts!!!!!?
Another amazing device from Natalie the Nerd. This is the best sd mod I’ve seen for the PSP Go. Item arrived delicately packed, as always.
