2DS USB C Mod

2DS USB C Mod

In my quest to USB C all the things, I recently USB C'd a wedge 2DS. I like this device as its nice and comfy to hold, definitely gives you the retro feeling more than the clam shell.

I used a 2 pin USB C. Some people aren't fans of this port, but for an easy beginner friendly conversion it works well. Just make sure you only use it with A to C cables.

Remove the original port (I did through sin - I clipped it with pliers by cutting the shielding, then desoldering the pins)

Pad 1 is voltage in, pad 2 is ground

With the USB C port, I clipped of the stand offs and bent the pins to be 180 degrees

Not much else to say. I used some adhesive to help hold the port in place and a file to make the hole bigger.

This is so awesome! I would like to try it on my 2DS because I share it with by tween siblings and the charger is a big inconvenience. Does the USB-C port has a resistor or is it not needed? Also, I didn’t get the wording (English is by second language) but did you solder it and them used glue to keep it in place? It’s a great mod and thank you for posting about it :’)
